In the USA, most of our legislative branch is made up of lawyers and businessmen, with a handful of doctors. Where are the scientists? The chemists and physicists and others who push the evolution of society toward the improving of our place in the world? Science and the expansion of knowledge should be celebrated, not scorned, or worse, punished.
There was a period in human history when religion and superstition ruled supreme. We call that period “The Dark Ages.”
